Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closure on

Governor Nicholls Street

NEW ORLEANS — On Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, weather permitting, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' contractor, Hard Rock Construction Co. LLC, will temporarily narrow the travel lane and close the parking lane in the 400-1000 blocks of Governor Nicholls Street to accommodate the installation of new sidewalks. Public safety is our top priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site.

Crews will be working on one block at a time, starting in the 1000 block of Governor Nicholls at North Rampart and will progress southward. Lane closure signs will be in place throughout construction, which will take place between North Rampart Street and the French Market.

During this time, street parking and/or driveway access will be impacted. Residents and visitors must adhere to any “No Parking” signs on the streets to avoid being ticketed and towed.

The sidewalk work on Governor Nicholls Street is being completed as part of the $2 million 2020 French Quarter Sidewalk Improvement Plan. All work is expected to be complete in late December 2020.
